What a HUGE weekend we have just experienced at Tinkers Cart, the very first retreat to be hosted by Tinkers Cart. Rosalie Quinlan, Helen Stubbings and Janet Rowe delighted us with their company, knowledge and wit.
Sharon Hawkins from Handmade magazine made a special appearance....just the absolute icing on the cake for
me, as we have been phone buddies for some time now...I did tell her I was 6ft tall, and had
blonde hair and Big
titties....how disappointed was she when she saw what I really looked like!!!
We all shared stories..most unprintable and secrets to be kept forever..but the best thing was the fabulous welcome th
at Townsville women extended to one and all.
Townsville may have grown in size but our hearts remain forever country...warm, welcoming and inclusive. It was truly an honour for my staff and myself to host this event and hopefully many more like it....speaking of which...

A very special thankyou goes out to my beautiful husband John, who cooked tea for us all on friday night, as we sat around our pool with our swollen feet in the cool water...sipping champagne, my daughters Elizabeth and Emily, and two special family friends Des and Cathy, all of whom were in charge of the catering on the day of the retreat as well ...luv you all and thanks!!
The following is a montage of pictures taken on the day...yo
u all know who you are!!!!
Hello, apologies once again for the gap in blogging..been busy cutting kits, packing goody bags, ordering fabrics and waiting nervously for things to arrive!!! Just the usual!.
It is only one week until the retreat and I have to admit to some nerves but also a great deal of excitement. I hope I have thought of everything and that everybody will have a lovely day out.
I am already plaanning for the September retreat which will have a Christmas theme, Natalie Ross and one other guest will be sharing the day with us, so do book in early to avoid missing out.
I got a box this morning in the mail and didn't recognise the sender, so with some trepidation I opened the box to reveal the most exquisite quilt...tada!!
It is the Lace Quilt designed and made by Helen Stubbings and her sister Tracey Browning, and took ou first prize late last year at the Quilt show in Houston. It is Temporarilly on the wall of my shop, until next Saturday when it will be at the retreat for all to see!! What a thrill to have it at the shop for the week!! Do try to visit us for a look if you can.
The new range At Waters Edge by Blackbird designs is now in at tinkers Cart, I have the full range and it is stunning. Check out the photo album on the left hand side, to see the beautiful range.
I had a call from Gail, Proserpine patchers, and she assures me that despite feet of rain the 10 girls coming from Dingo Beach and Proserpine will be at the retreat, even if they have to swim!!
All the best for now, take care, Tracy

Hi again, the retreat on 01.03.08 is now fully booked at 110 and I am already planning the next one to be held in September this year with Natalie Ross in Stitches. Check out her site by clicking on the link on the right hand side of this page. We will be running her quilt..The Wonder Of Spring as a BOM ...as soon as I get it made!! A second designer will also be joining Natalie...watch this space!!
The requirements for the day on 01.03.08 are a healthy sense of humour..there will be pink champagne at lunch to help this along...a pair of small scissors and a pencil sharpener. A digital camera would also be great as no photos will be given on the day but you are free to take as many pics as you like.
I am really looking forward to meeting customers and designers alike and also a special gueat Ms Sharon Hawkins from Handmade magazine is also coming up to spend the day with us. I have spoken to Sharon on the phone for 4 years now but we have never actually met, so I am looking forward to finally seeing her. Take care for now, I am off to buy a camera, I dropped the last one and we have two lovely new quilts to show off, one using a printed handkerchief fabric and the other using the Verandah range..really sweet teacups, check out the range on the left hand side of this page!! all the best Tracy
